The Spix's Macaw recently discovered in the USA has now been at last returned to Brazil

Good news!! The Spix's Macaw recently discovered in the USA - see report below on 9th October 2002 - has now been at last returned to Brazil. A report in today's issue of O Estado de São Paulo, one of Brazil's leading dailies, is summarised on the news page. This macaw had allegedly been kept as a household pet for more than 20 years before the owner decided to report it to the USauthorities. It is now expected to be paired with one of the two females bred recently by Maurizio dos Santos in Recife, Brazil.
