Is that the right number?

There seems to be some speculation about the number of Spix's Macaws alive now on the planet. I can confirm that at today's date following Presley's sad loss there are 90, one of whom is the last existing wild-caught Spix's macaw. That is being kept at Al-Wabra Wildlife Preservation in Qatar along with 70 captive-bred macaws (26 males, 39 females and 5 recently bred and as yet unsexed birds). There is one female at Loro Parque in Tenerife, which unfortunately suffers from epileptic fits, 9 (5 males and four females) at ACTP in Germany and 9 (2 males and 7 females) at NEST, a private breeding centre in Brazil, which is government approved. Altogether that's 34 males, 51 females and five unsexed.
