Lorenzo Crosta, the veterinarian from Loro Parque examining the Lear's Macaws and Spix's Macaws
He reports that all are in excellent health except perhaps Presley, the old Spix's Macaw recovered in the USA
There are some interesting new developments with the Lear's Macaw situation at Serra Branca and I am preparing a full report for the website on the events leading up to the withdrawal of BioBrasil from the area last December and what has occurred in the meantime.
Lorenzo Crosta, the veterinarian from Loro Parque, was at São Paulo Zoo at the beginning of August examining the Lear's Macaws and Spix's Macaws. He reports that all are in excellent health except perhaps Presley, the old Spix's Macaw recovered in the USA. Most are not yet fully mature and therefore will not be reproducing yet. Presley pictured on the left with Lorenzo, is much improved, but will probably not now attain full health after decades of poor nutrition.
