News has come in today that Sheikh Saud bin Mohamed bin Ali Al-Thani of Qatar has acquired all the Spix's Macaws owned by Antonio de Dios in the Phillippines. I shall post more information very shortly. Also a newspaper report in O Estado on 22nd July 2003 stated that a Portuguese citizen was apprehended at Recife airport in north-eastern Brazil on 21st July on his way back to Lisbon in possession of 58 eggs of rare Brazilian birds, some of which were alleged to be those of the Lear's Macaw and the Cock of the Rock (Rupicola rupicola).
