Situation with transfer of Spix's macaws to Germany

Most of the Spix's Macaws and all of the Lear's macaws in Qatar have been shipped to ACTP in Germany. There appears to be 120 Spix's Macaws and 32 Lear's macaws involved. There were several shipments with the most important macaws spread over the shipments. Remaining in Qatar for the moment are a number of recently hatched Spix's macaws in the nursery. They will be sent to Germany when they are ready. I've also heard that not all the macaws will be transferred to the new facility being built in Brazil. A number will remain in Germany as a "safety-net population".
