Spix's Macaws in the news again

Further to the earlier news item I have received confirmation there are 154 Spix's Macaws in captivity - most at Al-Wabra Wildlife Preservation in Qatar as well as the Association for the Conservation of Threatened Parrots (ACTP) in Germany and in Brazil at Fazenda Cachoeira. AWWP has at present two young chicks and a few more fertile eggs. There is a small number still in Switzerland, but as usual there is little information available about these. Visitors to the Blue Macaws website will recall that 150 was the number agreed to for the re-introduction programme.
