The 5th International Parrot Convention
The presentations at this four-yearly gathering of parrot conservationists and aviculturists from all over the world
The 5th International Parrot Convention was held at Loro Parque on Tenerife in the Canary Islands from 18th to 21st September 2002. The presentations at this four-yearly gathering of parrot conservationists and aviculturists from all over the world included a comprehensive review of the Spix's Macaw conservation project by Tony Juniper, who has just published a book entitled The Last Spix (ISBN 1-84115-650-7) published by Fourth Estate, London. With the permission of Loro Parque I have published this review on the Blue Macaws website. The Spanish language version can be accessed by clicking here. Die deutsche Version kann man hier finden.
There is also a press release on the return to Brazil of a female Spix's Macaw by Loro Parque to be paired with a male held by Mauricio do Santos in Recife.
A decision by the magistrate is still awaited in the Sissen case, although this was expected some weeks ago. As soon as the decision is known it will be posted to the website.
