Lisa Pye has contacted me from Chicago with news of the theft of two pairs of Hyacinthine Macaws from her home two weeks ago. She has set up a website with information. If any one from the USA can assist her in recovering her macaws, please contact her.

It has been widely reported in the print and broadcast media that 68 animals have been poisoned very recently at São Paulo Zoo by unknown persons, although some zoo employees are alleged to have been suspended during investigations. There are special stringent security arrangements for the Lear's and Spix's Macaws at the zoo, so these have not been affected. Let us hope that the culprits are apprehended soon.
