I have just received an update on the Spix's Macaw project from Martin Guth of ACTP, Germany.  It confirms that the total known captive population of the Spix's Macaw is 79 birds - 32 males and 47 females. 60 (24 males, 36 females) are at Al-Wabra Wildlife Preservation, Qatar; 10 (3 males, 7 females) are at the newly established breeding centre - NEST - in Brazil; 7 (4 males, 3 females) are at ACTP, Germany; 1 male (Presley) is at the Lymington Foundation in Brazil and 1 female (unable to be transferred for health reasons) at Loro Parque Foundation, Tenerife. In der Juni Ausgabe von Papageien ist diese Pressemitteilung verdeutscht  worden und mit ein bißchen redaktionellem Kommentar veröffentlicht. Nebenbei war eine Stellungnahme zum Transfer von Dr. Matthias Reinschmidt.
